Only the lover sings.” ~St. Augustine of Hippo

“After days of labor, mute in my consternation, I hear my song at last, and I sing it.” ~Wendell Berry

Psalm 96 reads:
“O sing to the Lord a new song;
Sing to the Lord, all the earth.
Sing to the Lord, bless his name,
Tell of his salvation from day to day.”

What kind of courage does it take to sit in stillness until the song within us rises? How do we learn to listen for the song of our lives, and to sing it wholeheartedly?

In this blog and this website, I share my academic, spiritual, musical journey as an integrated whole. In this space, musicology is tied up with theology, contemplation and social action are partners, and community is where we learn to be individuals.

Welcome.
