Soren Kierkegaard begins his pseudonymous work Fear and Trembling with four re-tellings of Abraham’s response to God’s command to sacrifice Isaac. This paper examines what we can learn about the paradox that Kierkegaard’s faith entails by reading these stories in conjunction with the weaning parables that accompany them.
